Goal | To support the re-launch of the St. Lucie County Public Schools History Fair by providing classroom materials, event support, judges, recognition, and awards to students for their projects in the 2020 St. Lucie History Fair. |
Description | Each year 6th, 8th, 10th, and 11th Grade students in St. Lucie County create research projects based on an annual theme determined by the National History Day program. Schools send their top projects to the District History Fair where each year over 500 projects are presented. Students may choose how to present topics by creating an exhibit, writing a research paper, creating a website or documentary, or doing a performance. They can work individually or with a small group. Winners of the district fair advance to Tallahassee to participate in the Florida History Fair. |
Benefits | It's important to find exciting ways to immerse students in the subjects they learn on a daily basis. The History Fair makes history come alive for students by allowing them to choose their own creative process for their individual or group projects. Through the creative process, they are engaged in the discovery of historical, cultural, and social experiences of the past. The long-term and future benefits of their participation in the History fair are skills needed to become college and career ready by researching, analyzing, organizing knowledge, writing, and presenting. |
